What's Behind the Two Red Curtains?
What's behind the two red curtains,
at the back of our school hall?
Skeletons casually leaning,
against the old brick wall?
Their toothless mouths curved,
into an evil smile?
What's behind the two red curtains,
at the back of our school hall?
Bats hanging from the pole,
their lips stained with human blood?
Darting down and swooping low,
'fore fading into the blackness?
What's behind the two red curtains,
at the back of our school hall?
Ghosts floating like weightless feathers,
ready to pounce and scare?
Glistening white and silver,
as they move like the wind?
Thinking this to be untrue,
I bravely ventured in.
My feet were stiff inside my shoes,
as I silently crept,
past the red curtains!
A skeleton sat before me,
my instinct was to run,
but when I looked closer,
it was a tree in a pot!
Hanging above me, upside-down,
were 30 or so bats.
One swooped close and I grabbed at it;
I grabbed at a large black bag!
Hovering in mid-air, quite near,
were roughly 50 ghosts.
I turned round and ran into more,
I found that they were costumes,
from an old school play!
What's behind the two red curtains,
at the back of our school hall?
A tree in a pot,
some large black bags,
and some costumes from an old school play!
